Autoresponders-How do Autoresponders Work?
Have you been told or has it been intimated to you that somewhere down the line you’re going to have to get an autoresponder? If that’s the case, doesn’t the name itself invoke a certain foreboding. I remember the first time I knew I was going to have to get one. I didn’t know an autoresponder from an automobile. I had visions of this big unwieldy complicated machine.
I knew it was something that dwelled within your computer but it just seemed like something more, associated with an outside force. Finally came the day when I had to make the order. I pulled out my credit card with trembling fingers and hit the Pay Pal button.
Boy, was I surprised when I downloaded this piece of software. This little innocuous website popped up before me and I thought, is that all there is to an autoresponder? And then I started reading. What I had been told about it being a sophisticated emailing device was confirmed, but scary, it wasn’t As I read the directions my nervousness melted away like ice cream on a summer day.
I discovered the following. Tabs labeled at the top of the page direct you to the various features, i.e.
- Message tab: When you hit this tab you create email message #1. When you complete 1 you save and create #2. and so forth. Of course your messages have to be well written so as to appeal to your subscribers.
- List settings tab: Allows you to put personalized information, such as your name email address, url, logo, company name etc. This page also has a checkmark box when checked puts an automatic unsubscribe link in your email.
- Reports: Tells you how many new email leads you’re getting daily, weekly, monthly, as well as other types of reports in different categories.
- Broadcast edit: Allows you to send out special messages to all subscribers or to just a select choice. Doing this does not interfere with your normal outgoing messages.
Other tabs have other features you will discover and through the use of the wonderful tutorials, master very quickly.
There are features that allow you to test your emails, track and split test, keep spam under control as well as many other valuable features.
So remember, the next time you hear the term autoresponder, don’t be a big baby like I was and run for the hills. You’ll find it’s like most other internet tools, piece o’ cake once you work up the courage to give it a try.
