How To Make Your Web Site Have More Traffic Than Rush Hour

Two important items will lead to your website's success on search engines: first is your ranking and second is your traffic. Why does traffic matter? It is a measurement of how many people are visiting your website, which will become the source of your profits in the long run, if you know how to convert your traffic into sales.

Here are 5 suggestions to increase your volume of traffic:

Give your visitors a reason to return. It's always easier to retain a previous reader than to attract the attention of people who've never visited your site before. To encourage them to repeat their visits, let them add their e-mail addresses to an update or newsletter list. Incorporating RSS feeds for your websites is another method of keeping readers constantly updated.

Submit your site to DMOZ and Yahoo. DMOZ is a directory; Yahoo is a search engine and a directory combined. However, both of them kick their entries to numerous small directories and meta search engines. If you can get your site indexed with DMOZ and Yahoo, you traffic will multiply from not only their sites but also similar ones affiliated with them.

Draft compelling content. The foundation of your website is the content it delivers. Write articles that are attractive and interesting. If people browsing the web discover articles they really enjoy, they'll be more likely to link to your page. Interested readers will also be repeat visitors.

Be featured. There are directories and other websites that will feature listings for as long as conditions are met. Read their terms and apply them to your website so your listing will land at the topmost page or placed in the most conspicuous area.

Another little known way to increase traffic to your website is to comment on other people's online blogs. If you leave an interesting comment and your signature includes the url of your website, people will want to visit your site to see what else you have to say.
