html tutorial
By Clint Lenard

HTML is the foundation of the web. It's true! You will NOT find a website online that is not using HTML.
HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language and can be used to build your very own website. A lot of people are scared and think that HTML is some kind of Alien Language, but it's not... I promise you.
Actually, HTML is very simple to understand once you understand those little brackets (<, >). The words in between is considered the "code" that tells your Web Browser what to do. HTML can bold text, italicize or emphasize text, underline text, etc.
HTML and your Web Browser works very similar to your standard Wordpad/Document Editor program. You can format text, tables, data, etc.
OK, OK... so how do you learn it, you ask?
There's a ton of learning resources online. With a quick search on Google or Yahoo! for "HTML Tutorial" you will find that the first few are from reputable Tutorial sites used by many beginning web designers.
HTML is not very hard to understand after reading for about an hour or so, but you need to learn by "doing" as well. Don't just read... try to actually use those typing fingers and create your own Web Page, play with the text of your choice and bold, italicize, underline and even highlight some of the text.
Once you get the hang of it - the world wide web is yours for the taking.
If you have issues with Reading and you'd rather learn by watching a Video on HTML you can check out the resource box below and I've added a link to a great Video Tutorial.
HTML can be taken even further by learning something called "CSS", which stands for Cascading Style Sheets. You can actually create simple classes and ID's that automatically changed the text for you. But let's not rush too far ahead of ourselves at this time.
HTML is a pretty basic "language" and I truly believe you can learn the basics within a few short hours of learning as long as you put forth the effort to "do". I stress that word because I've been there. I have come to understand that you can read every book on cooking, building airplanes and even building websites... but if you do not learn by doing - you will never be able to consider yourself a cook, a Manufacturing Engineer or even a Webmaster.
So remember to put a few minutes into doing while you're reading and learning. Without it - you're simply reading and not learning.
Good luck!
