2001 accord rear brake does not work
Replacing front brake pads on a 2001 Honda Accord V6 It's so simple, you really shouldn't have to pay someone to do it for you. In order to change the front pads you'll need: jack from trunk, 14mm wrench, 10mm wrench, C-clamp.
Open the hood and take off the cap of the brake reservoir. [As long as it doesn't go empty, you don't need to worry about bleeding the lines. You only have to bleed the lines if you let air in] Some fluid might overlow out as you compress the piston, so stick a rag underneath to catch any excess.
Loosen the lug nuts on your wheel, just enough so they tension is off.
Put the emergency brake on and jack up the car. Be sure to jack it in the point specified on the jack/car manual instructions. Jack up the car so that it's just high enough that it's an 1/4 inch between the ground and the bottom of the tire
Remove the wheel. I usually slide it under the A-arm so that just in case the jack kicks out, it will land on the rim and not my hands. Don't lose the lugnuts either, otherwise you'll be yelling F*** alla A Christmas Story
Gently turn the steering wheel towards the side where the wheel is off. This will allow you to get easy access to the caliper
Above the caliper are two bolts holding the brake line to the caliper. Remove those with the 10mm wrench.
Remove the bottom caliper bolt. If you turn the bolt and inner nut rotates as well, you'll need to put a wrench around it so it doesn't turn. Careful not to damage the rubber boot.
Lift the caliper from the bottom and flip it up.
Replace the pads with the new ones. If they don't seem to fit the guy probably gave you the wrong set. Be sure to give exact information about your car e.g 2.3 vs 3.0 liter
You'll need to compress the piston on the caliper. The piston is the round thing in the caliper you just flipped up. Using a C-clamp will work, just be sure to put something between the clamp and the piston so you don't damage the "head" of the piston. I actually used a wood clamp with rubber boots, which did the job. As you're compressing, be sure to check your brake reservoir to see if any fluid is pouring out.
Slide the caliper back over the pads and put all the bolts back and then wheel back on. Tighten the lug nuts so they're tight enough so the wheel doesn't wobble. Then jack the car back down and then crank the nuts tight.
After the car is back down on the ground, give the pedal a few pumps. The pedal will adjust and it shouldn't feel so squishy after the 3-4th pump.
If the pedal is still squishy, then you probably have some air in your brake line which isn't good. You'll need to bleed your brake lines which is something I haven't had to do so google that as well.
Congrats, you just saved yourself a hundred bucks and nobody tried to scam you into getting new rotors.
