Necessary Traits For a Beginner Guitar Player
By Raki Morales

If you are a beginner guitar player and looking forward to learning the guitar then you would do yourself a real favor by going through this article in order to be prepared for what it takes to learn playing the guitar. I have been playing for a long time now and there are a few things that really stood out for me as necessary traits to really learn playing the guitar. Like any other endeavors, learning to play guitar will take determination, discipline, curiosity, a lot of experimentation and patience. These characteristics are what a beginner guitar player should have in him in order to learn to play guitar.

The beginner guitar player should decide at the onset that he wishes to learn to play guitar and be ready to commit to it. This means that following through a decision no matter how it would turn out, and the possibilities that the beginner guitar player may or may not encounter and not be deterred by them and treat them as natural occurrences in learning to play the guitar.

Playing the guitar is as much as an art as a discipline. There are training exercises and drills to master in the beginning before one can truly unleash his creativity. Not one tool can accomplish all, like one type of brush to paint different types of paintings and this is true as well for the guitar, so a beginner guitar player will want to have as much of these 'tools' in his disposal should there be a need for them when creativity strikes. These are not actual 'tools' I'm talking about but certain skills on the guitar that you get to practice over time. Skills that are drilled into you during training.

Being inquisitive and the eagerness to learn is another deciding factor in the success of a beginner guitar player in learning to play the guitar. There is so much information available for a beginner guitar player that it would really be up to him if he wish to sift through the available resources with the thought of finding something that would really be useful in learning the guitar as a beginner. There are a lot and this one right here is one of them.

With the number of ways things can be done. There is no one way for all. Each one of us is different and each beginner guitar player is no different. Being a beginner does not mean that they all begin at the same skill level, some are born with longer fingers making some things easier for them, and some cultivated in them natural sense of timing through some other means. That is just a few of the cases to support my point which is that each is different and it will take some experimentation as to which method of learning works best for you. Don't be discouraged with failure as failures are only failures if you didn't learn from them, at least you learned that as a beginner guitar player, that method, did not work for you and your determination should pull you through these tough times to experiment more with other ways of learning.

The most important of all in learning the guitar as a beginner guitar player is patience. Everything will click into place at some point and there is no need to rush. But that is not enough reason to slack off either. Set yourself a regimen to follow which is very important to all beginner guitar players and this regimen will come through you through repetition. And in time, you will develop your own rhythm, your flow. But until then, as a beginner guitar player, stick to tried and tested exercises and learning methods that has worked for most and see if that is for you. If not move to another and I'm pretty sure you will learn in the process, even on the ones you thought that you didn't.

Determination, discipline, curiosity, experimentation and patience. Equipped with these I am sure you will never go wrong. This is not only true for a beginner guitar player but accomplished players as well. These traits I enumerated above work in conjunction to each other, a combination of two or three of them will pull you through the tough spots.
