Patterns are nothing but the overall outline of the required final object, or the stained glass work, which is cut into smaller pieces showing details of each piece in terms of texture, color, and so on. Each piece of the pattern is then cut from an appropriate glass that reflects its characteristics most appropriately. The pieces are joined together to give you the finished product.

The desired pattern is evolved using this outline. The image is cut into smaller pieces or templates, which will be used to cut the glass.
