Common Side Effects Associated with Botox Treatments

The most common side effects of botox cosmetic are usually correlated to the local injection of the solutions. Patients face the chance of a contusion at the site of the injection. Patients with certain neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects of botox.

Side effects of botox can be particularly virulent if the patient is allergic to any of the ingredients in Botox cosmetic. When you are breast-feeding or are pregnant, Botox treatment should be avoided. Certain types of medicines are known to increase the risks of side effects of Botox. So the patient needs to make sure that the doctor knows the names of the medicines he or she is using.
Some well-known medicines that can interact with Botox and increase the risks of side effects of botox are antibiotics such as gentamicin, tobramycin, clindamycin, and lincomycin. Medicines used to treat heart rhythm problems such as quinidine and medicines treat conditions such as myasthenia gravis or Alzheimer’s disease. They can also increase the chances of Botox side effects. As with all prescription medicines, the patient should also notify the doctor if they are taking any over-the-counter medicines or herbal products.
