Staying Safe when using Industrial Power Tools
Article by Power Tools Pro
Industrial power tools over the years have evolved to become much more efficient with thought given to design & safety of the operator using them. This has made the lives of tradesmen and DIY enthusiasts much easier and as a result there are many fewer cases of injuries caused by misuse of industrial power tools. This increase in built-in safety of modern power tools has unfortunately made some people more complacent about the safety aspects of power tool use which can be extremely dangerous. It is important to remind yourself now and again that you are using an incredibly powerful piece of equipment that can cause a lot of damage if used incorrectly, not only to the material but also to yourself.
Below are just a few safety tips for you to consider the next time you are operating any industrial power tool.
Using the right tools for the job in hand
This may sound obvious but often if you are busy on a project it is sometimes easier to use the power tool at hand instead of the appropriate one for the task. This can lead to the work being done incorrectly and result in poor quality finishing that can have an effect on the overall look of the work. Damage to material can also be extremely costly as the material will need to be replaced at the expense of yourself and a possible delay in the project for the client.
Making sure you can use the power tools correctly
Each industrial power tool has a different method of operation allowing efficiency, quality of the work and operator safety at all times. Ensuring that you use the power tool correctly is incredibly important as the vibration impact back through the power tool from the work can have adverse long term affects on your body. Tools should also be carried by their built in handles not by the power cords (if they have them) and when they not in use need to be disconnected from any power source at the earliest opportunity.
Power tools need to be inspected regularly
Construction sites are dirty places and using power tools every day can really put strain on the tools, regular inspection of all your power tools needs to be carried out to ensure that they are in full working order and are not damaged in a way that can cause an accident. Even though industrial power tools have been produced using much stronger materials to last longer, they can still be damaged and will need replacing from time to timeAt the end of the day, the most important thing is making sure that everyone is safe carrying out their daily jobs and reminding everyone of basic safety measures to reduce the amount of complacency when using power tools. It is also vital to purchase high quality industrial power tools, which is why Power Tools Pro offers hundreds of power tools from many of the biggest manufacturers at great prices. Home owner review,
Great tool but a wood/metal blade would be better than just the wood cutter. Hit a nail and the blade is shot. Bosch attachments fit but are very expensive.

|Better than expected…while it lasted.,
I bought this tool with the thought in mind not to spend too much on something I probably wouldn’t use very often. At this price it was a cheap gamble. I finally got a chance to use it the other day, replacing some T&G flooring and was impressed at how well it worked. It’s looks and feels solid and at this point I consider it a good purchase.I really can’t see what any of the major name brand tools could do better. The only down point is finding blades that fit. You won’t find them at HD or Lowes. Amazon sells blades made by Versa-Tool that fit, so if you buy the tool, stock up so you don’t get caught without any replacements.
Update: The Bosch blades will fit, but man are they expensive! Also, if you hit a nail it doesn’t matter how much you paid for the blade, it’s history.
Update part 2: Ever heard the old saying “You get what you pay for”? Well, in this case it turned out to be true. After using the tool for just a few times, it started acting erratic until it finally just would not turn on. I’m pretty sure it’s the switch but it’s useless now. It worked long enough to get an idea of it’s unique abilities and opened my eyes to how useful these type of tools can be. Now I can justify buying a high end tool as I found it to be indispensible.

|Just the tool I needed,
I bought this to cut out some hardwood floor planks and it worked great. I’ve since used it many times on other projects. It seems to work just as good as the more expensive ones, just hope that it lasts as long. If not, I only paid a little and it was worth it for the few times I’ve used it. If you’re not a general contractor and are just going to use it for home projects, I highly recommend this product.
