Question by Peanut Fu: Since when did a wedding ring become a “fashion accessory”?
I just read a quote about why Jennifer Lopez wasn’t wearing her wedding ring at the Golden Globes. The quote was, “She was wearing gold, and it didn’t work.” Huh? I’m sorry, but for those of you that are married, would you NOT wear your ring because it just didn’t go with your outfit? I’m not married and I even I think that’s a bogus excuse! Your thoughts? Poll: wedding ring- a symbol of fashion, or a symbol of commitment?
dee_the_genius, I agree with that. I’m an EMT and when I actively worked on an ambulance rings definitely got in the way. My dad’s in construction and wearing a ring on the job could be lethal so in those respects I understand not wearing one. This was just from the point of view that if your ring doesn’t make your clothes, you’re gonna forego your ring? Just doesn’t make sense.

She’s just dumb. I think her and her husband are having issues and shes trying to show him a message.

I don’t think you should be applying what J-Lo does to the rest of us.
She is somewhat lacking in the “Brains & Values” department, is spoiled and materialistic, and is NOT representative of all women in any way.
You may want to change your question to “Why does Jennifer Lopez consider her wedding ring a fashion accessory?”
I’m not married and I think it is a symbol of commitment. You can’t just throw your marriage away for one night because your partner doesn’t look good with what your wearing, so you shouldn’t do it with your wedding ring. I think people are stupid to treat it as a fashion accessory!!
Just because she is a celebrity doesn’t mean she should be held at any other standard. I hate when people say “Well, she is a celebrity and that makes it different.” It doesn’t, if anything she should be held at a higher standard because she is making it extremely public!
The Pope should issue a fatwa against her.
a symbol of Commitment. She is stupid for doing that
your absolutely right Im married and usually dont wear my ring because im a nurse and its too hard to wear it under gloves, but i would if i could and white gold certainly doesnt go wll with blue scrubs lol
commitment
well, I have no idea because I don’t know her and it’s none of my business…but maybe her and her hubby are having issues and she wasn’t prepared for someone to ask her that …maybe she just wanted to answer with something that was fairly benign…instead of getting into her personal issues that are really only between her and her husband??
idk, just my take. as for wether it’s a fashion accessory or not, I’d say no. Though I have worn one at bars before to keep from getting hit on. I think you can be just as committed without any such symbol personally.
