I have a great sword and sheath, but I need to polish it a little. where can I get a good set?

sword cleaning and sword polishing are 2 different things.

cleaning a sword is easy and the kits range from $15 to $20

polishing is an art in it self, i unless you know how to do this i would not recommended it. i know a little about it, an polish inexpensive swords, i do not do this on expansive swords.
if you need it polished take it to a professional polisher. other wise you will ruin the value of the sword.

i believe Malcolm D on here a top contribute can recommend some places in the united states to get your sword professional polished.

edit i dont recognizes the type of sword you are describing, is it european?

Super fast shipping. Kit was nicer than pictured, oil in clay vase, lint free cloth instead of rice paper, and a set of replacement mekugi pegs. As well, a brass hammer and wooden driver pin for removeing pegs, and 2″ powder ball all in a well marked wooden display box without splinters. Overall very nice for the money. I would highly recommend this kit to anyone in need of a quality sword cleaning kit! Thanks, Mike

An excellent product for the price!! Quite functional and also good looking. I use it to polish my swords every time I do some tameshigiri and the entire kit works flawlessly. A great buy!!

I can’t go into a lot of detail since I’m a NEWBIE at this sword-maintenance stuff, but this sort of thing is a must if you’re buying any sword that’s made of high-carbon steel (the composition of which is susceptible to rust). Even if it’s for display only, a sword must be cleaned on a fairly regular basis to ward off rusting, and obviously water isn’t exactly the ideal method, dig it?

The cleaning kit comes in a wooden box that feels fairly cheap but at the same time antique, and given the nature of the product, I’m going to chalk that up as a good thing–just, um, be careful with the box. Mine had some scuff-marks on the lid that slightly took away from the kanji markings on top, but meh, I don’t especially care–and I’m pretty sure that was just my own bad luck. There’s an instruction sheet, easy enough to follow and all that, but it loses a star for being on very, very thin paper and giving no indication as to how often a sword should generally be maintained. There is, however, enough in the box to last a good while (assuming you have only one sword to clean)–not exceptionally long, but it’s not going to run out after only a few cleanings. Just don’t go obsessive-compulsive on the thing. A sword doesn’t need to be cleaned THAT often.

Given the price, it’s a good buy. If you’re new, though, you may want to find an additional, alternate source of information about sword maintainence, though. The instructions here only do so much.

You get what you pay for, and ultimately this is exactly in that category. The kit is functional, though perhaps a bit lacking if you want something truly professional.

However, that’s as bad as it gets – I was looking for something to keep a few replica pieces oiled and in shape. This does a fine job. It’s cheap and easy, and has everything you need to take care of a display blade.
