Alternative Metals For Men’s Jewelry

In general, jewelry is associated with femininity. Almost all discussions about jewelry revolve around those that are for women. However, men are now becoming more and more interested about enhancing their looks. That is why in the realm of fashion, which of course includes jewelry, men are not contented to be left behind.
While there are still a lot of people who believe that jewelry is a woman’s territory, there are actually a lot of men out there who are into jewelry-wearing as well. If you visit jewelry stores, browse fashion magazines, or even just surf the Internet, you’ll find that there is a wide assortment of men’s jewelry that is available. Moreover, many pieces of jewelry out in the market today are no longer just for the wealthy; it is now acceptable for the average Joe to wear a little of the fancy stuff. We no longer live in the times when a wedding ring is the only thing that a man would wear. Today, different kinds of jewelry are available for men – earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, anklets, and so on.
Recently, the use of alternative metals for men’s jewelry has become a popular trend. Titanium is one of those metals. It is being used for both women’s and men’s jewelry, but it is more popular for the latter. Titanium is expensive and durable so a lot of men prefer this material over the traditional silver and gold. Also, titanium jewelry is lighter so a lot of men find it to be less of a hassle and more wearer-friendly. Aside from titanium, another metal that is popular for men’s jewelry is stainless steel, which has almost the same characteristics as titanium except that it is much less expensive.
Another popular material used for men’s jewelry is silver. In fact, the appeal of silver for men has never faded since the start and is still being used today. Large and thick gold chains can be very expensive, and a lot of men would rather spend that much money on something else other than jewelry. Thus, if a man wishes to improve his style and give off the impression of elegance, he can just opt for the cheaper but equally stunning sterling silver jewelry pieces out in the market today. These silver pieces come in different types and designs – from understated thin chains to fancy, sparkly earrings to large, ornate medallions.
Aside from type of metal used, the styles and designs of men’s jewelry are evolving. They have become more ornate than what was traditionally accepted for men in the past. For instance, when it comes to wedding rings, a lot of men now choose carved or bejeweled rings instead of plain gold or silver ones. Some may have filigrees and may even be diamond-studded.
Men’s jewelry may still not be as popular as women’s, but if men wish to adorn themselves with an earring, necklace, bracelet, or ring, a myriad of choices are available from which they can choose from. The current trend is that the negative stereotypes for jewelry-wearing men are fading so maybe in a few years, men’s jewelry would see an increase in popularity.

Big and Heavy!,
This necklace is really big and heavy – I didn’t realize how heavy. I thought I was going to hang something on it, but it is dog-collar big. I like it, though, and think it was a good value.

Ok had mixed emotions when I got this. In the pictures it looks very nice as a guy’s chain. But when I got it out of the package I thought I was holding a chain for my dog. Looks very much like a dogs choke chain but that is not a bad thing, just something for me to get over. Once on it looks very nice and it is thick and heavy, also has a nice shine. Little warning if u are a bigger guy or have a big neck then it may be a concern depending where u want the chain to lay. I should have measure my neck before getting it since the chain is 22″ and my neck size is 20″. Lol, not a problem but it sits high above my collar bone, does look like a choker on me. This is not a problem when I’m hanging around, but when I go to work will need to have a t-shirt with a tight collar since I don’t like it to show. Guessing once I lose some weight the chain will lay lower.

I own this very same chain necklace and am very satisfied with it. All the other reviewers here that have talked about it being heavy, and like a dog collar are pretty much correct. This chain is designed to be as simple but heavy as they come in a chain without spending a fortune. The 22″ size is a good bench mark for most mens necks, and the clasp is heavy as well and easy to fasten. I actually like the fact that this chain is made of stainless steel instead of silver. Stainless if much shinier than real silver, and never needs any attention. This chain should not be considered for anyone that likes a chain with a little more character, or anyone that insists on real silver. However for the regular guy that just likes the looks and feel of a good quality heavy chain around their neck, the price and quality of this jewel in my opinion cannot be beat. Personally I think it is very handsome, despite its simplistic design. Recommended…
