Question by midget_hamsters_will_prevail: The iphone4 ‘just cut your sim to make a micro sim’ rumour, has anyone actually tried/tested this in the uk?
so i’ve read this all over the net – that you can simply take a normal sim card, cut it a certain way, and produce a micro sim card that will work in the iphone4.
People have even started producing ‘sim cutters’ as you can see here:

My question is, does anyone actually have any personal experience with this… does it work/not work. Even better if you have tried this with a uk network sim.
Otherwise, are there any articles/user accounts of having put this technique to the test.

Not in the UK but I just cut down my CMCC (China) SIM card and replaced my AT&T SIM with it so I don’t have to pay roaming charges and it works absolutely perfectly.
The trick is to find someone who has the tool to cut the SIM and keep the trimmed off part – if you do that and want to re-use the SIM in a standard sized slot, you can just put the “micro SIM back in the trimmed part, tape it in place (tape on side opposite contacts of course) and away you go.
I don’t think it makes a difference who the carrier is all SIMs are designed to be the same size with the same innards.
