Some printers can print directly from a camera, but for performing this task, the photograph should be taken on a camera supporting the PictBridge protocol. This is a very handy capability. An amusing fact about some photo printers is that the prints taken on them can last for even a hundred years without fading.
A printer requires proper maintenance, replacing of toner etc to keep it in perfect running condition. Toner cartridges and paper are the primary printer supplies necessary for operating a printer.
