Different Ba Keepsake Ideas

Article by Jnet

As your child is continuously growing, you will see that there are lots of milestones involved, and you want every single of it to be remembered. Perhaps the only solution to preserve those precious memories is to have them documented using any baby keepsake idea.

There are so many baby keepsake ideas that are available in the market. When choosing one, make sure that it will not end up stuffed in a storage box in your basement or attic. Baby memories are worth to display and cherish for life, that’s why it is important to be creative and imaginative when trying to enhance one.

Baby keepsakes don’t need to be extravagant nor lavish. You may choose to make your own, but if you don’t have time to do it, you may prefer to buy a nice one at any baby store. Baby keepsakes are available in both online and offline stores. These store-buy options can be personalized by artisans. Personalized details could either be engraved, embroidered, or embossed baby’s name, initials, a date, and/or a message.

Some of the popular baby keepsake ideas are:

Quilts -check out some of outgrown layettes of your baby and choose a few meaningful pieces to create quilted keepsakes. You may consider some cute clothes of your child that you can be crafted with a few personalized details and attractive patterns. If you have some friends or family members who know how to quilt, you can invite them or ask them to help you patches for quilting.

Memory Boxes -these are usually the most favorite container where baby milestones are kept and preserved. Memory boxes can be anything that you can made using materials that you can actually find in your home. If you don’t have one, there are various pre-made boxes and do-it-yourself boxes that you can purchase at your local craft store. You can get very creative when making a handmade memory box. Make it more personalized by including some handwritten texts and baby pictures on the outer appearance of the container. Some people use personalized stickers that include various cute baby clip arts. Speaking of which, you can find a lot of free clip arts online that you can print on the wrapper to cover your memory box nicely. Or, you can create a theme that matches the theme room of your baby.

Memory Display Ideas -these would likely include picture frames, photo albums, shadow boxes, painted baby portrait, and framed baby footprints or hand prints. Some of these ideas can easily be bought from a specialty store, but for the painted or sketched baby portrait, you may need a good artist who can do it if you cannot make it yourself.

Baby keepsakes are great options when giving baby shower gifts as well. Often, guests in a baby shower would likely to bring their own gift for the new parents, and that gift could either be a baby necessity like baby clothes, blankets, and feeding supplies or a special keepsake.

Easy Baby Print Ornament Kit!, December 20, 2009
This review is from: Pear Head Babyprints Ornament (Baby Product)

I purchased this so we could have our daughter’s handprint for her very first Christmas. It is INCREDIBLY easy to do! The best part is that if you make a mistake or you are not happy with how the print came out you can redo it. I am not sure what this is made of, but it smells like marshmallows. It is smooth and soft and you roll it out using the roller included with the kit. I should mention that the material stuck to the wooden roller that came with the kit and the directions state that if this happens, to use a round tin can. That worked for me! The other thing I had trouble with was the plastic ring that came with the kit; I just used a bowl.

You do have to push a bit hard to make a solid impression in the material. A straw is included to make the holes at the top for the ribbon. I used a toothpick and pin-pricked the year at the bottom. It came out beautiful! I highly recommend this kit for parents and to make those one-of-a-kind keepsake gifts.

We had a great time making the imprints for our twins’ hands and feet. It was very quick and there was no mess to clean up afterwards. Also, there was enough foam in a kit to do both a hand and a foot. However, the final product is very lightweight and rather soft. I would also recommend using something to cut it out other than the included ring because we had a hard time getting the ring to look even.

I was worried that it would be impossible to get my twin 11 month old boys to cooperate with making hand-print ornaments. This is definitely a great purchase for anyone with wiggly children! It allows you to roll the material out multiple times until you get the perfect impression. I even had enough left over to make paw imprint ornaments for my dogs. The instructions are easy to follow and the mess is pretty minimal. Would highly recommend.
