The Heated Base Layer and other Winter Sports essentials
Article by Venture Heat
Don’t let the absence of sweat fool you. Playing winter sports is not that easy of a feat. With athletes facing less than favorable conditions, the cold weather can truly take its toll on one’s body and taking the necessary precautions can spell the difference between an injury and an excellent gold medal worthy performance. Below are some of the things one should keep in mind before engaging in any sports this coming winter season.
Acclimatize Yourself. Before considering any winter activities, one needs to first train the body to withstand the harsher conditions brought about by the weather. Since the temperature will be dropping, the muscles will require further conditioning. There will be a need to exercise on a daily basis to improve one’s endurance and increase the power of the core. By training more and more daily, the body will more or less be used to any upcoming activities.
This sort of training should also continue up to the day of the event. Warming up daily to loosen the muscles will ensure that there will be no tightness with the muscular system, thereby avoiding any injuries that may occur due to the cold weather and the tightening of the muscles.
Use specialized equipment. Unlike other sports like basketball or soccer, playing winter sports requires using specialized equipment designed to withstand the harshness of the cold weather. For example, in an impromptu pickup game of basketball, a player can just wear any shorts and a pair of sneakers to play. The same can’t be said for skiing and snowboarding, though.
In order to remain agile and comfortable, a winter athlete needs to sustain their body heat for long periods of time. One must, however, also consider the number of layers of clothing they will be using. Too bulky and there will be restriction in the body movement, hindering an athlete’s performance.
It is therefore suggested to layer up using the heated base layer, an advance piece of clothing designed to generate and emit heat anytime athletes may need it. Powered by lightweight rechargeable batteries, the heated base layer basically eliminates the need for more and more layers of clothing so that athletes can move better and with much ease.
And because it is very thin and lightweight, it can be worn underneath a jacket or one’s ski gear without much fuss. However, it is also recommended that athletes or anybody using the heated base layer make sure to charge up and/or carry extra batteries to ensure that the heating components can function fully during all winter activities.
Using the heated base layer, one can also increase blood flow and circulation throughout the upper body so that users can get exercise and training both inside and out. Just remember that like any kind of sport, winter sports require dedication. And that will ultimately depend on an athlete and his/her passion. Practicing on a regular basis, taking the time to educate oneself about the sport they wish to pursue and using the right kind of equipment will be the key to succeeding in any winter sport.
