Sign In Please

2008 reissue of the L.A. Metal band’s debut album, originally released in 1984. Feted and championed by the Hard Rock cognoscenti (supporters included Motley Crue and Ozzy Osbourne), this Los Angeles based quintet made all the right noises by packing both melody and muscle into their music; highly valuable commodities that found Autograph reaching a level of success that would see them out perform most of the competition. Sign In Please was, then, the bands highly praised debut album, unleashing

Question by Onica: What is the difference between a pre-print (p/p), autopen (a/p), and other versions of celebrity “autographs”
I’m sending requests for celebrity autographs and I need to know the different types one can get back. Obviously authetic ones are the most wanted, but that’s not always the case. So, what are the differences between a pre-print (p/p), autopen (a/p), and other versions of celebrity “autographs”?

preprint: Duplicate of an advertisement before the advertisement is actually run in a publication. Preprints are often blown up and mounted on cardboard for retail display as sales promotional material or sent by the manufacturer to dealers or retailers as proof of advertising support.

Autopen:An Autopen is a machine for automatically signing a signature as an autograph.

Greetings my fellow autograph friends. I would jusy like to say this album rocks from beginning to end. I discovered Autograph in late 1998 while browsing through an old Circus magazine I had brought at a Kiss convention. I saw the ad for ‘Sign In Please’ and figured I`d go out and buy it. I have to admit, the first time I played it I wasn`t that impressed, but after a few listens it really grew on me and has become one of my all-time favorites. This CD has everything; great choruses, razor sharp guitar playing with awesome solos and pounding, grooving drums with a splash of electronics……….I could go on and on. This CD is awesome and is definitely worth a try, especially if you don`t own it or if you are a fan of 80s metal. As for their other two follow ups, ‘That`s the Stuff’ and ‘Loud and Clear,’ they are also excellent CDs, if you can find them. ‘Loud and Clear’ wasn`t too hard to find, but ‘That`s the Stuff’ is extemely difficult to locate and if you do be prepared to fork out well over a hundred bucks for this rare CD. Anyway, ‘Sign in Please’ is a great album and in my mind is an underrated 80s metal classic.P.S. Does anybody have a time machine out there? I hate the 90`s.

Autograph is a good band; too bad they got overshadowed by other hair metal bands like Poison and Cinderella. There’s so much more here than just the big hit “Turn up the Radio”. “Girlfriends Boyfriend” and “Non-stop” are great tunes too. If you can find That’s the Stuff, it’s great too. I’m lucky enough to have the tape; I heard it’s out of print now. By the way—the lead singer, Steve Plunkett—he’s the one who sings the theme song for the show 7th Heaven.

This album actually set the bar for what was to come from bands like Poison, Warrant, Dokken, Kix, etc. The party-glam-rock-image with great guitar had really yet to be perfected and mass produced until Autograph did it. You could argue that Van Halen was the first, but Autograph pushed the bar further. Plus, this disc contains songs that have stood the test of time with “Turn Up the Radio” still being played on classic rock stations til this day. If radio gurus would have delved a little deeper, they would have found 3-4 more hits on this cd as well. A must have if you listen to this kind of rock.

This set them off to a fairly good response from the Metal world. It contains a few of their heavier songs, although they were never considered to be heavy. This was their most popular album ever, though I thought Loud and Clear was by far their best. I too am looking for “That’s the Stuff” on cd, I have it on tape, but it is not in print so you’ll have to be lucky and find it on the web on one of the hundred or so used cd stores before I do. “Missing Pieces” is highly recommended for those of you who want more rock from Autograph.

I first saw these guys in concert a year before their first album came out. They were opening for Van Halen on the 1984 tour. No one knew them, and they got booed all through the set. I remember the song “Nineteen and Non Stop” that night, 23 years ago. I was only 13 at the time. When they released this record, it was done with the help of Diamond David Lee Roth, and these guys had the fire! I saw them again the next year opening up for Motley Crue on the Theater of Pain tour. They rocked then also! I remember listening to their music in my Sony Walkman during the teenage years. I could relate to these great songs. “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend Isn’t Me” is great! I am sure that now, Mr. Plunket is glad that his girlfriend’s boyfriend wasn’t him, and that he no longer feels bad when that girls’ kids dont call him dad. Think of the 18 years of child support he saved! My favorite on this record is Deep End. A song I still can relate to! So get this record. It still jams!
