Smith Goggles: Style and Eye Protection on the Slopes

Article by Jennifer Waller

Skiing is a popular winter activity which many people enjoy. While spending times on the slopes can be a fun experience there are dangers involved and it pays to be well prepared. Looking after your eyes is important especially when the sun is shining. The reflection from the snow can be damaging for eyes and wearing appropriate goggles is a way in which you can protect them.

There are a few manufacturers that produce good quality ski goggles. One of those to consider is Smith Optics. They have been manufacturing goggles for around 40 years now and are recognized for producing a range of innovative and top quality goggles. This makes them a company worth looking to when you are in the market for a pair of ski goggles.

There are a few things to consider when buying ski goggles. It is important to ensure that they form a complete seal around your face. This keeps the elements out and ensures you can see well. You will also need to consider the tint of the lens and this will depend on the conditions where you plan to ski. However a benefit of ski goggles produce by Smith is that many have interchangeable lenses. If you have a few lenses in different tints you can select the best one for the conditions.

If you wear glasses you should take these with you when trying on ski goggles. This way you can be sure that the goggles will be a comfortable fit around the glasses. Even if you wear contact lenses, it can be a better idea to buy ski goggles that fit around your glasses as you may decide to wear them. It can also be sensible to take your helmet or hat when trying on the goggles. This again will ensure that the goggles fit well with these.

Smith goggles come in a wide variety of styles. Some of the ski goggle ranges they produce include the Junior Series, the Turbo Fan Series and the Airflow Series. All the ski goggles manufactured by Smith have form and function. While they are effective snow goggles which will protect your eyes, they are also stylish and will help you look good on the slopes. If you want to match your goggles with other Smith products they also produce ski bag packs, hats and sunglasses.

Ski goggles produced by Smith Optics can be a good choice for women. The company produces goggles that are a specific fit for a woman’s face. This can provide a closer fit which in turn can make them more effective on the slopes. Examples of the women’s range of goggles include the Spherical Anthem and the Spherical Heiress series.

If you want to purchase a pair of goggles by Smith Optics there are a number of stores and online dealers that stock them. The Smith company website has details of their full range of goggles. They also have information about where they can be purchased and this can be a way to find a store in your area.

The cost of ski goggles from Smiths will depend on the model selected and the size. The Junior Series for youngsters is the most affordable with goggles costing around to . However some of the goggles for adults can be more expensive. Some in the Turbo Fan series cost close to 0.

I have a large face, these goggles fit me well. Very clear – almost too bright on sunny days – I recommend buying a clear and a tinted version of same goggle for evening and days

This is a first-rate product: easy to put on, you don’t have to fiddle with the googles to ensure that no water comes in and amazingly, you can see quite well through the lenses while swimming.

    Pros:
    - best fitting pair of goggles i’ve ever worn
    - keeps water out without making deep indentations around your eyes
    - multiple nosepieces for different nose widths

    Cons:
    - the nose pieces are kind of hard to attach
    - the nose piece i use sometimes disconnects, and i have to push it back in to connect the 2 halves of the goggle.
    - they should make it easier to attach and detach the nosepieces. its not easy.
