It is important to know how to shave in the right way. Shaving properly decreases pain and reduces irritating razor cuts. Shaving makes man look younger and smart. Many people go out to salons to get shaved and wish if they could do it the same professional way at home. By taking few precautions and tips before shaving, while shaving and after shaving, you can also be a shaving expert. Here are few shaving tips for men:

BEFORE SHAVING TIPS:1) Wet your beard thoroughly. The wetter, the better because well-soaked hair is much weaker and that makes it much easier to cut.

2) Cleanse face properly using warm/hot water, splash some hot water. It will soften beard and help open up the pores. Healthy dose of moisturizer before shave is also good idea.

3) Use gentle, creamy shaving lotion as it softens hair and makes shaving easy. Cooling aloe vera shaving cream contains unique combination of natural ingredients to soothe & calm skin before and after shaving.

4) Massage shaving cream or oil into area to be shaved. Shaving oil or cream will give best results.

5) Do not use gels, foams and products that contain chemicals such as benzocaine or menthol. They give great lather but can really dry and irritate skin, close pores and stiffen the beard.

WHILE SHAVING TIPS:1) Use hot water while shaving. Hot water helps to open pores, soften the beard, and cleanse skin.

2) Use sharp razor as old, blunt blades spoil shave. They drag skin and do not give clean shave. Heavy razor handle helps in better shaving control.

3) Must shave in same direction as hair growth, this prevents in growth to large extent. Then, leather and shave slightly against direction of hair growth for closer shave.

4) Short strokes are better option as they give a cleaner shave.

5) Do not apply too much pressure on shaving razor because this will cause skin burns & irritations. Instead glide it gently across face.Rinse razor in the hot water.

AFTER SHAVING TIPS:1) Finish by rinsing off face with cool water. It will close skin pores. Then afterwards, use skin toner to remove any residue, close the pores and refresh the skin.

2) For cuts, use moistened alum block to stop bleeding.

3) Apply moisturizing aftershave lotion on shaved areas. Avoid alcohol based aftershaves lotions as they make skin dry.

4) At last, use moisturizer over face and neck to keep skin firm and supple. Or one can apply after shave cream to keep skin moist and fresh with UV protection.

TACKLING THE PROBLEM OF INGROWING HAIR:1) Neck area skin surface lying close to jaw line is susceptible to in growing hair. Dark skin is more prone to this problem.

2) Shaving in direction of hair growth tackles problem of in growing hair.Use of face scrub on regular basis, also helps in arresting growth of in growing hair and dead skin is sloughed off by scrub.

3) If the part of hair is still lodged in skin, it is best to let bump heal itself & then pull it out after day or so.

These shaving tips will be beneficial to new shavers and regular shavers as well.

Best bang for buck shaving brush, March 2, 2008

I’ve gotten this brush about a month ago and it has held up pretty well. At $15 it is the best value pure badger brush on the market. At first it’s a little stiff. It loses a few bristles here and there but after a few uses it breaks in. I haven’t lost a bristle in weeks and its gotten softer. Of course there are better best badger brushes and silvertip badger brushes on the market but be prepared to pay $40-200 USD for a quality badger brush. The Tweezerman makes a good starter brush at $15. Why even bother to buy a synthetic or boar brush (both don’t hold water well) when you can get this one for $15? I plan to upgrade to a better/softer brush down the line but the Tweezerman is treating me well and in the future will make an excellent back up or travel brush. I recommend this brush for anyone who decides to start traditional wet shaving.

Does the job, great price. One minor item.. see below:, July 10, 2008

Badger hair shaving brushes are not the cheapest items in the world. Not to mention usually you get what you pay for; however I have to say that this brush bucks that trend.

The brush does the job at a price MUCH better than the competitors.

    My one minor issue:
-the first brush I bought repeatedly would lose hairs each time I used it. I hoped it would stop at some point but this went on for a month or so. In a strange sort of luck, I managed to leave the brush behind on a business trip and had to purchase a new one. The new brush works like a charm.

In a nutshell, I would not hesitate, if you need a shaving brush and do NOT want to pay an arm and a leg then this is the brush for you.

On a side note, if you are considering this brush you should also consider (if you have not already) switching to a Safety Razor rather than the economy razors you find in the supermarket. My shaving experience and outcome has changed considerably as a result of using this brush as well as the safety razor. My recommendation for a safety razor: Merkur Classic Safety Razor, Straight – #178

As far as shaving soap and blades goes: check out eBay as well as Amazon

Great Product, Great Price, July 9, 2005

This shaving brush is perhaps the most inexpensive way to get a pure Badger bristle shaving brush. I’ve now been using it for a year and a half, and it has not shed any real amount of its bristles like the cheaper brushes on the market. The brush head remains densely packed and quite soft. Hopefully, it will remain that way for some time to come. In the meantime, I do enjoy the close and comfortable shaves that are aided by this brush. Because of it, I have sworn off of canned shave gels for every situation except travel. They just can’t compare to your average $1.50 cake of shaving soap and this brush. This was a very worthwhile purchase for me.
