Storage Trunk – Not Just For Storing Your Belongings
By Gary Denton
I was shopping online the other day and I realized that there really is a storage trunk for everyone! Not only did I see nearly every material you can think of, I also saw every color, pattern and accent metal. I kid you not; there was even one with camouflage. So, I got to thinking; If there are this many varieties of trunks available, then why don’t I own one? I suppose I never considered the uses of one. After I thought about it for a minute, I realized I have shorted myself not only on space, but also on style.
A storage trunk is not just a bin to keep your items in. These are used regularly as coffee tables, decorative additions to rooms and even shipping containers. I had never thought about one in this light before! I can store my winter blankets and spare throw pillows right inside one in the family room, and everything will be out of sight. Out of sight means clutter free and that is something that I am continually striving for! Not only do I get the benefit of less clutter though, I also get a very neat coffee table. The great thing is that you can find one to go with your room, whether you employ a traditional, primitive or modern decorating style (or anything in between). If you do not have much to store, but you love the idea of having an eclectic piece added to your décor, then consider setting it vertically in the corner and propping a plant on top. Anytime
something is used in a way other than intended, it becomes a centerpiece of sorts.
You can also use a storage trunk to ship items. This is really useful for teens going off to college. You can ship the non-essentials because the car is going to be plenty full. This is a great way to get the items there that he will need at some point during the year, but probably not right this second. This is also a special ways to ship mementos to a grown child who is living out of state. If you start going through the attic and decide that your grown daughter should have some of the items you have been holding onto all of these years, this is the perfect shipping container. If you can find one that looks vintage, that is all the better to ship memorabilia in.
Now that I have thought of all the uses I am missing out on, you would have thought I would have purchased a storage trunk by now! The only problem is that there are so many options, I cannot seem to make up my mind! Not only can you find wood and metal, but you also have gorgeous leather. Some of the trunks come with chrome corners and detailing, while others have metal studs or ornately painted details. There are those that sit flat on the ground and others with feet. So many choices, I am bound to find one (or more!) that I want to buy.
Storage trunk information can be found all over the internet. Storage trunks can be used for more than just storing your belongings.
