I was pleasantly surprised as the unit is bigger in real life than it appears in the pictures. This pit will hold fairly large pieces of wood that would otherwise fit in a wood stove or indoor fireplace. The construction is sturdy and from mostly good materials, as are all Weber products. The bottom ring that sits in the basin could have been less flimsy material in my opinion. We’ll see how it stands up to heat. The top ring and all supports are stronger, thicker steel, as are the legs. The wood screws that hold the wood handles to their mounts are cheap. If you back one out, (say to turn the Weber logo right side up) it will strip. This was easily fixed with larger brass wood screws I had lying around the garage. I was slightly surprised that it had the “Made in China” stamp on the box. Most Weber replacement parts and charcoal grills I’ve seen are USA manufactured.

The ash-catcher is just for show, unless you want to drill holes in the bottom basin. I wouldn’t recommend it. Anyway, it does look sharp. I’ll put it to the fire test soon…

Good fire kettle, easy to assemble and seems built to last a long time. The frame that holds the lid on top would only be needed if you make a fire in the drizzle. Otherwise, it’s not needed at all. The smoke rises MUCH better directly up than being deflected sideways by the lid. Still, being able to have a nice, dry fire even in drizzle makes that frame worth having.

I put a bit of sand in the heat deflector on the bottom as well as in the bottom of the kettle. It makes a very good heat shield for the ground below the bowl.

This fire kettle is well-made and does exactly what it claims to do. It is lightweight and will be very easy to move into the shed during the New England snowy winters.

I LOVE the lid– it keeps the ashes dry during rain so you don’t have to tip the water out when you want to build a fire as you would with most other commercial fire pits. That in itself is a tremendous selling point!

We recently bought a Weber grill, and in doing research came across this fire pit. Being a Weber, we figured it’d be of good quality. The pit does not disappoint. Its material is just like any other Weber charcoal barbeque, with the nice porcelain coated steel. The top and bottom are heavy-duty, solid construction, unlike cheaper aluminum pits found in big-box stores. We really like the top that becomes a snuffer and allows for quick, safe extinguishing. This seems like it will hold up for many years of enjoyment. Definately recommend!

I bought this wood burning fireplace this year and am very impressed with it. The lid comes in handy to snuff out the fire when done, it allows the bowl to stay dry 24/7 unlike the firepits at box stores, and it keeps animals away from any residual food if you cook on it. I have purchased a “Rome’s #123 Camp Ring Grill Grate” at 24 & 1/2″ to cook on as it fits exactly in the aluminum ring. It sits either high towards the top or low towards the bottom on the bolts of the assembly. however, I purchased four cheap spring clamps to attatch to the aluminum ring and my grate adjusts to any height by simply moving the springs up and down the four verticle posts and placing the grate on them. The bowl accepts fairly large logs which is nice. Don’t forget to add a layer of sand to the bottom per the instructions to protect the enamel as that instruction is not easily seen. Time will tell how long it lasts but it seems very sturdy and other reviewers report a long life. I am very pleased with my purchase and highly recommend it.

Good firepit. Looks nice. too smokey…wish it had a screen. as with all of these products, don’t leave it in the rain/snow.

the bottom part is not an ash catcher! put water in there to prevent the heat from scorching your deck (which can happen with other firepits…which must be placed on a nonflamable surface like concrete, tile, brick, or rock).
